Dear Mr. Dillow,

I’m writing to express my interest in the cashier position you have listed on your company’s website. I am a 2016 graduate of St. Paul’s High School, and I am currently attending Furman University, majoring in accounting. Noting that you are looking to fill a part-time position, I feel this will fit perfectly with my class schedule. I have experience working behind a register, and am comfortable performing many different transactions. I believe I would be a great addition to your team.

I currently work at Corner Mini Mart as a Front End Supervisor. My daily tasks include helping customers find and purchase merchandise, handling returns, and providing exceptional customer service. Additionally, I am responsible for keeping the front end of the store clean by sweeping, emptying the trash, and returning items to their proper places. I am proud to say that I have earned employee of the month 3 times since I started working for this company. I have also received many customer compliments on my helpfulness, and overall friendly attitude. This job has taught me a great deal about multi-tasking, and helped me improve my leadership skills, as I now oversee several other associates.

When it comes to job-related skills, I possess a great ability to be organized and stay on top of my tasks. I am self-motivated, and consider myself a real “go-getter”. Having the ability to work independently or as part of a team makes me a versatile employee. My people skills are another strong point of mine. I consider myself an outgoing and friendly person, and this will reflect in the references attached to my resume. I understand that being a cashier means I’ll be interacting with the general public, so I strive to make every encounter a good one.

Upon reading up on your company, I found myself aligning perfectly with your philosophy on business and serving the public. You’ll find that I meet all your requirements, and I can assure you I strive to go above and beyond with my work ethic. I look forward to meeting with you in person to further discuss this opportunity.
